10 meters long x approx. 54cm diameter. Manufactured by Zwaan, Holland

Conceived and manufactured as a limited edition piece of conceptual furniture, this enormous elongated snake form can be playfully manipulated into any configuration as desired. It can function as a sofa; bed or armchair…etc.

Original condition – cotton fabric with polystyrene filling. It has signs of age and use (light staining in places and a few minor holes).

Jan van Grunsven (Dutch c20th)

This Scissor sofa was designed by architect Jan van Grunsven in 1959 and was produced by UMS/Pastoe in Utrecht. It has laminated layers of plywood and the original grey-brown wool upholstery and Dunlop foam. Van Grunsven worked as an architect in Gerrit Rietveld’s studio during the 1950s -1960s.
