Model 728 Fledermaus Chairs and table attributed to Josef Hoffmann for J & J. Kohn. Early c20th.

Stained and lacquered beech wood. The chairs have a later Wiener Werkstätte fabric.

The chairs were originally designed for the famous Fledermaus Cabaret and manufactured by the firm of Jacob and Josef Kohn around 1910. In very nice condition.
The beechwood has a warm patina from the oxblood red coloured finish.
These chairs were purchased together with the small cafe table. Although the chairs are unmarked, the table is marked with the Kohn firm label.

A side chair variation of the famous Fledermaus chair designed by Josef Hoffmann in 1906 for the Fledermaus Cabaret. This is a period chair by an unknown manufacturer. The chair has a good quality later upholstery of a Wiener Werkstätte design.

Rare early Bas Van Pelt design double-sided desk

Bas van Pelt began his shop ‘My Home’ in The Hague, Netherlands in 1931 and within a short period the company opened showrooms in other cities such as Maastricht and Amsterdam. The domestic interior design firm focused on producing high-quality modern interior furniture. Eventually right up until into the 1990s Bas van Pelt furniture and fabrics were also sold throughout The Netherlands and beyond by well-known modernist suppliers and manufacturers such as Thonet, D3, LOV and Gispen.

This early Bas van Pelt design desk was manufactured in solid oak wood. It has the Maker/designer’s name brandished in the wood.
