126 x 64 x 75.5cm high. Maple/birch and lacquered wood

A small a Dutch 30s art deco/modernist curved desk. Warm maple veneer with off-white lacquered wood.
This double-sided/freestanding desk was part of the interior of the jewellery shop S.Spyer located at the Koningsplein in Amsterdam. In 1929-1930 the shop was redesigned by Amsterdam architect Harry Elte, giving the shop a more modern Art Deco shopfront and interior. The furniture was executed by the Gebroeders Reens company. (original key monogrammed ‘R’).

A rare three position lounge chair and ottoman/footstool attributed to Francis Jourdain, 1920s.

This design stands out for its curved lines and the three-position system that allows the seat and backrest to be tilted. Nicely executed out of pear wood and woven cane seat and back.

Oppenheimer clock from the ‘Objects of the Electronic Age’ series.

George Sowden’s “Oppenheimer” clock from Objects for the Electronic Age was created in 1983. Objects for the Electronic Age was a series of objects designed by the Memphis Group, of which George J. Sowden was one of the founders, along with Ettore Sottsass, Michele De Lucchi and many others.

A rare clock in superb condition – with original label to the reverse.
