Hendrik Fels (Nl.1882-1962)

Oak wood. L.O.V Oosterbeek 1930s

Recently newly upholstered in a dark/warm coloured wool fabric.

71cm wide x 61cm deep x 79.5cm high (seat height 42cm)

A rare low armchair in the Dutch Art Deco / Modernist style. Designed by architect H.Fels for L.O.V Oosterbeek (shortening of ‘Labor Omnia Vincit’), an idealistic furniture company active between 1910 and 1935. The aim of the L.O.V company was to produce honest and modern furniture that was made in an artisanal way.
Designers that worked for the L.O.V. consisted of well known names like Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Muntendam as well as Hendrik (Henk) Fels.

Good restored condition (one repair to a corner split in the back rest)

Pepijn Fabius Clovis / studio (Nl.1996-Now)

Pepijn Fabius is a Dutch contemporary designer who makes furniture and objects which are on the edge of art and design.
Known for his use of ‘waste material’. These chairs are a good example of his design approach. The use of humble materials like left over wood was part of a project instigated by the designer at the start of the Covid years (2020/21). Imperfections are embraced, thus making each design unique – Some of the pieces are labelled by the designer.

An elegant pendant light by Bruno Gatta for Stilnovo. Circa 1950s.

Dutch slatted low bench. Circa 1960s.

A very well made (Solid teak and therefore quite heavy) bench that would work very well as a long bench at the end of a bed or beside a sofa to put books on.

Benches are rarely this large and low – The combination of its scale and weight make this bench a very useable piece of furniture in any modern home.

Hendrik (Henk) Wouda (Nl 1885-1946)

Pander & zonen 1920s. Solid coromandel wood with velvet upholstery.

50cm wide x 38cm deep x 49cm high (seat height). Makers label to the underside.

A rare and important Dutch art deco stool by architect and furniture designer Henk Wouda. This stool would have been made as part of a special commissioned interior design.

After 1916 when Wouda returned from the war he established himself as an architect in Den Haag (The Hague) and a year later joined the renowned furniture firm H.Pander & Zn. It was there that he was given the freedom to develop his own monumental style inspired by the work of the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Sleek, austere designs such as this stool are characteristic of this Hague Style also known as Hague Rationalism or the New Hague School.

The stool is a rare find especially as it is completely constructed in solid coromandel wood. The grey/green velvet fabric and upholstery is a later addition to the stool that is fully in keeping with the authenticity of the stool (horsehair filling).

Annie Hieronimus (France c20th)

Model ‘Amak’ lounge chair by Annie Hieronimus for Cinna 1983-86 (makers label to reverse).

A rare lounge chair designed by French designer Annie Hieronimus and executed by Cinna. This model of lounge chair very hard to find anywhere – it was only produced for three years between 1983 and 1986. Its remarkable look comes from the combination of soft folded leather that seems to bridge two large ballistic looking feet.
