Two Mid-century Dutch Abstract Expressionist Bronze Sculptures
Wim Rijvers (Netherlands, 1927-2010)
Two c20th bronze abstract expressionist sculptures by established Dutch/Belgian sculptor Wim Rijvers. One is monogrammed by the artist and dated 1980; the other one is believed to have been made a year earlier in 1979.
Nickel plated steel and plywood chair for EMS Overschie 1930s.
A rare classic modernist chair by this Dutch designer. The seat and back have been refinished to a surface as close as possible to the original. The frame has a warm patina resulting from years of use.
BROOCH WITH SMOKY QUARTZ GEMSTONE. 1970-1974. Brooch made of silver plate with finely engraved net decoration, set with cabochon-shaped smoky quartz gemstone. Artist’s original by most famous Slovak jeweler Anton Cepka. Ag 900/1000. Total weight 140 g, length 11,6 cm, height 4,7 cm.
